Hayes Larue Mayer

Our new precious nephew was welcomed into the world Tuesday, January 27th! He weighed 7lbs 3oz. Proud parents Brandon and Laura are starting to settle back into the routine, and it sounds like big brother Grayson is trying to figure it all out. Grayson was so good with Hayes in the hospital. It was so fun to watch Grayson lean over and give his little brother a hug! Laura has started a new website for little Hayes (http://www.babyjellybeans.com/web/do/site/home?ID=459296). Here are a few pictures from the hospital, but there are many more adorable shots of Hayes on Laura's website. Congrats Brandon and Laura! We can't wait to spoil him!

A great start to a new year

What a wonderful December and January! I know I am slacking on my blogging, but we have been pretty busy lately! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Since my last update, we have had Christmas with both families, caught up with old friends, welcomed in the new year, skiied in the snow in Colorado, missed molly, celebrated a birthday, and made lots of great memories!
We went to Natchez for the weekend in the middle of December to have Christmas with my family. My family surprised us with an early Christmas dinner! It was so good!

For Christmas, we were able to go to Fairhope on Christmas eve and stay until the Sunday after. It was so nice to spend more than a few hours there. We had a delicious Christmas lunch with Peter's parents, brother, and grandparents. Later in the weekend, they took us to the Bellingrath Gardens to walk through their Christmas light display. It was beautiful! When we left on Sunday, we left our sweet little Molly with her grandparents. We didn't want to board her while we were gone on vacation. We had a very merry Christmas with family!

I know Peter will like this one!

On January 2nd, we left for Winter Park, CO with my parents and Rachel. I was very excited about going this year, because it was Peter's first time to snow ski! I was also very nervous because my family and I love skiing so much, and I did not want Peter to dislike it. Peter did his homework, though, and talked to his friends about what to expect. My dad wanted to teach him to ski, so on the first day we started on a little bunny slope. Peter definitely did NOT need it! He picked it up so easily, and he was skiing everything we were by our second day! I am so proud of him! It snowed almost every day we were there, so the fresh powder on the mountains was great. It was pretty chilly every day, but we bundled up! On our last day, the wind chill on top of the mountain was -30 degrees! We didn't stay on the top long! We also went snowmobiling one day we were there. It was so much fun! I have uploaded a slideshow below for some of our pictures. We missed the other part of our family, Laura, Brandon, and Grayson, but since little Hayes will be here in about a week, it was best they stayed home. Maybe everyone can go on our next trip!

Last but not least, we celebrated Peter's birthday this weekend. We had a great weekend together and with friends. Sunday, we met Peter's parents in Hattiesburg to have lunch. We also got our little Molly back. We missed her!

Tomorrow I go back to work and start the old routine again. It has been so wonderful to have a long break from work. Since January 2nd, I have only worked two days! I have been spoiled. I am very thankful for the days I have had off. I think everyone needs vacation to keep them sane!

Whew, what a post that was! Sorry for being so lengthy. Through all of our going and doing, we realized how blessed we are to have such a wonderful family. God is good! Also, we want to say thank you to all of our family and friends who made our holiday so amazing! Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Happy Birthday Peter

Okay, so I know we have been away from the blogging world a long time. I will update tomorrow, but for now I just want to wish my wonderful husband a very happy birthday! You are the greatest husband a girl could ask for and I love you very much!

A much needed update

It seems like forever since I have posted! Things have been very busy the past few weeks. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Natchez this year. We were able to go home on Thursday and stay until Sunday. Everyone was home, which I have come to appreciate more and more these days. We were able to spend time with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, brother-in-law, and adorable nephew! We were also able to catch up with a couple of friends while we were home, which was great and very overdue. I am posting a few pictures from the weekend at the end of the post.

I am so excited Christmas is here! Of course we are a little behind in the decorating department, but we are going to get our tree tonight and I am going to do some shopping today! I am so looking forward to decorating our house this year. Two things happened last week that really made me realize Christmas is just around the corner. First, I was in the grocery store and was pleasantly surprised to find my very favorite Little Debbie - Christmas Tree Cakes! I was so excited that I bought 2 boxes and I have eaten one every day since I bought them! They are so good! Secondly, I watched The Christmas Story for the first time this year. It is my favorite Christmas movie, and it never gets old. We will be going to Fairhope for Christmas this year, so we are looking forward to spending some time with Peter's family!
In other news, Molly, our sweet dog (most of the time) turned 3 years old this week! I cannot believe she is already 3! My friends Mary Catherine and Amy also had birthdays this week! So, happy birthday Molly, Mary Catherine, and Amy! And to Amy, CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement!
Hope you all have a great week!

It was so good to visit with all of my sisters: Laura, Rachel, and Katie Beth!

Grayson was sitting in my lap and helping play a game on the Wii, when I felt his little head fall over on my arm. So sweet!

Time Flies

I cannot believe it has been 10 days since I have blogged! Time passes so quickly these days, and I am not so sure I like it! When I was in nursing school I wished for time to pass faster, and I can assure you it creeped by! Now that I want to slow it down to enjoy this time in my life, it speeds ahead.
Anyway, things have been pretty busy over the past week despite the fact that I only worked two days of it. Last Monday, I was able to take a day trip to Winona. I am so proud of my best friend Mary Catherine. She has opened her very own business in Winona, and it is amazing! She has been open now for about a month, but Monday was my first trip up to see it, sadly! Her store, Very Mary, has so many cute things. She mostly has children's clothing, but she also has lots of other gift items. Plus, she monograms! She has always had such a great eye for fashion, and now she can put it to good use! I know she will be very successful in the future. Of course, I did my job to help out business and bought a few things! I am very excited about the cute things I got from her! So, if you ever have a free day off, drive over to Winona and shop around!
Friday, while Peter was working, I went shopping! I am in need of some new clothes. I do not even know what I wore last winter, because there is nothing in my closet that can keep me warm! So, I found some great deals at the new Renaissance shopping center. After Peter got off work, we drove down to Fairhope to spend the weekend. We had a great weekend visiting with his parents and grandparents. Saturday, we had breakfast at The Grand Hotel in Fairhope. It was such a beautiful place right on the bay, and the breakfast was delicious! After breakfast, Peter and I rode bicycles along the bay and downtown. It was a little chilly, but still fun! Later that night, we watched our bulldogs lose. I am hoping for a better season next year! The weekend flew by and we were back at home in no time.
This week is my long week, so I will be working every day except for Wednesday and Thursday. I am not very excited about that! I am really not excited about working the night shift Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. ughhh. I am soooo tired of it......night shift is for the birds!
I hope you all have a great week!
